Hollow and strong in the long irons and precise cavity backs in the short irons give the set a lovely blend. Forgiveness where you need it and control where you need it. An XL head means a high moment of inertia, the most ever in a game-improvement iron set. Although classed as a game-improvement set there is no real chunkiness, the offset is minimal and not intrusive, and the feel and sound is solid with no signs of tininess whatsoever. A total beginner to single figure handicapper would be more than happy to game this set.
Designed using artificial intelligence, the mainframe variable face technology give awesome ball speeds allied with a unique weight pad that gives great forgiveness across the entire face. With a v-shaped sole, the elevated leading edge glides through the turf with less drag than a typical flat sole design. This v-sole design gives much better results on heavy strikes where speed and power is often fully lost. Loft specific grooves are different throughout the set, 4 iron to 7 iron display wider and flatter grooves, whilst the 8 iron to DW (Dual Wedge) have closely spaced and deeper grooves that spin more, these are also laser-milled for enhanced friction. The dual wedge provides more versatility than a standard sand wedge, you can also open it up nicely for lob shots and finesse shots.
As with all other woods and irons in the Launcher XL range, action mass counterbalancing is possible with the use of an 8-gram weight in the top of the grip, giving greater control and balancing. Alternatively if precision is at the top of your agenda, a custom configuration of a half-inch shorter shaft and without counterbalancing for maximum control. The chrome, satin silver, black and blue colourway all come together nicely to give a very pleasing look indeed. We wholeheartedly recommend this set to any standard of golfer.
