Golf's Famous Fashions

We all like a maverick and you are never too far from the latest joker who rocks up to the course in lime trousers and it’s not uncommon amongst the pros either. We’re talking about golf clothing and it's famous fashions. From the reserved to the hilariously weird. We’ve sorted the stupid from the stylish to bring you our pick of the best outfits of 2015.

Rickie Fowler has not only penned some great scorecards this year but some great styles too. We’ve had the pleasure of enjoying his performances in all of the big competitions, winning the Players Champs in May and the Deutsche Bank Championship in August. And as one of the top 5 golfers in the world right now, he’s certainly one to watch. But his 50 yard putts haven’t been the only part of Rickie’s game to catch our eye, he’s sported some fantastic scripting too, always accompanied by his signature snapbacks. Previously, Rickie has been known affectionately by other pros as ‘Teletubbie’ for his all one-colour outfits. This year he’s distanced himself from that nickname, but stayed true to his style.

Take his third round outfit at the first Major of the year in the 2015 Masters in April. He sported the GT Raglan Polo shirt, Puma Tech grey pants and Puma Titan Tour black/white golf shoes. This choice reflected back to his onesie days, but brought it back with style.

Another head-turner was Rickie’s outfit for the third round of the Phoenix Open 2015 in Scottsdale featuring a bright green Titan Tour polo paired with white Puma 6 pocket pants and a white Cobra snapback.golf fashion Rickie’s on course wardrobe has been marvellous in 2015 fusing golfing attire with bright colours and street wear. Puma Golf are Rickie’s sponsor and suiter and they have gradually sought to tone down Rickie’s once block orange look. We lad-mire Rickie’s unconventional approach to course wear and perhaps his best choice of attire was the red/white combination he wore at the WGC Bridgestone and PGA Championship last year.

Kevin Na is the prince of patterns on the Tour and this year has been no different. Sometimes his outfit choices leave onlookers squeamish, but when he pulls it off, he goes big! Here he is playing alongside our first fashion icon at the World Golf Champs. You’ve gotta love those Oakley Wayfarer’s.

golf fashion Dustin Johnson is known for his power and his Adidas Golf apparel comes no short of his strength. He brings style and simplicity to deliver suaveness on a level with Adidas great David Beckham with a beard to match. This year Adidas have stocked him with their signature reptile patterned premium trophy golf belts.

We’ve come to appreciate a man who can wear what he wants and still pull off a good round. Rory McIlroy sported some striking outfits throughout his scripting this year. His Fuchsia pink golf trousers were a highlight with a number of Nike athletes following his lead both on the course and in the changing room.

Nike’s golf range of Modern pants come in some interesting colours like photo blue and anthracite, and daring red.

Now for those of you who dress to dazzle perhaps these four items will be to your ‘taste’.

Royal and Awesome golfing attire is on a palette similar to a Dulux factory meltdown. To say the least they take a brash approach to traditional patterns, loud and proud just doesn’t cut it. They offer strikingly patterned golf shorts, trousers and Plus Two's in bright and bold colours, just look at their Zebra to Ze-Bar trousers.

If you want everyone on the course to know you’ve arrived there are these tartan warrior trousers like something out of Braveheart. See Galvin Green’s Norris trousers in a midnight blue, white and electric red, a stunning three colour check yarn.

Stromberg bring a touch of class to the contemporary. The Sintra Funky Golf Trouser range is an informed choice with their built-in non-iron, high-wicking fabric. Out of this best-selling collection we especially like the peppermint and red. Giving a tasty twist on traditional trouser colour tones.

We’ve always been big fans of the argyle patterned pullover, a throwback to golfing outfits of old. And Lyle and Scott bring patterned pullovers into the 21st century with their unique designs. A select few have caught our eye such as the Crew Neck Argyle Detail Pullovers.

So if you’re bold or not there are a number of traditional remakes and new favourites to check out from 2015.
