Galvin Green’s waterproof range has been developed to incorporate freedom of movement, unlike other regular synthetic waterproofs that fail to adapt to the flow of a golf swing consequently restricting motion. The spectacular stretch fabric is versatile and resilient, and comfortably accommodates the strongest of drives ensuring the range of motion needed for high performance.
Be weather ready
Don’t avoid the wind, stop it. Galvin Green have developed windproof technology that matches the likes of Gore-Tex resistance. The WINDSTOPPER membrane is an ultra-thin, totally windproof protective layer. It is made from the same polymer as the Gore-Tex membrane ePTFE. In most of the WINDSTOPPER garments a three layer construction is used. On the surface there is a soft polyester knit high density fabric, in the middle is the WINDSTOPPER membrane and underneath that a polyester knit tricot to protect the membrane. These three layers are laminated together to form what feels like one material but are actually three layers put together. Windproof fabrics are fairly easy to come by, but a windproof jacket that is also breathable is rare. And that’s why Galvin Green jackets are superior. What’s more, the widespan of temperatures and weathers that you can use WINDSTOPPER in makes WINDSTOPPER jackets the most versatile garment in the Galvin Green collection. Watch golf pro, Oliver Whiteley, demonstrate the flexibility and features of the Apex stretch jacket and Alf stretch trousers.
Right from the start of Galvin Green in the 1990s, the development team wanted to use the best fabric available on the market. So they decided to use Gore-Tex. It is designed to offer extreme water tightness and full protection from the elements. Gore-Tex is industry recognised worldwide as the most effective waterproof material. Wet clothes steal vital heat from your body, so Gore-Tex fabrics are designed to be durably waterproof with no leaks maintaining high performance in the most extreme real-life conditions. Scientists state that pores in the Gore-Tex membrane are 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, providing complete protection from the elements. What’s more is that all Galvin Green Gore-Tex Paclite products are complete with a lifetime waterproof guarantee, which proves just how much faith they put in their technology. Put simply, Gore-Tex is impenetrable to water and here’s why:
When bag space is critical, Galvin Green’s ultra-thin Paclite technology allows golfers to store clothes as compactly as possible around the course. In effect Paclite garments are totally waterproof and extremely breathable. The average Paclite garment weighs just 280 grams, unrivalled by other lightweight jacket manufacturers. The only real way to feel how light Paclite products are is to try them for yourself at our store in Mansfield.
The fabric used in Insula garments are designed to capture a lot of air, this air is then warmed by your body heat which creates a barrier between your body and the outer layer. Much like a wetsuit retains heat through multiple layers, so too does the Insula fabric. Thick garments tend to restrict movement and are not suited to golfers, therefore Galvin Green designed their clothes based on the freedom of movement with multiple thin layers.
The Ventil8 range focuses on keeping cool and staying dry using a number of carefully selected materials. The Ventil8 shirts transport moisture and excess heat away in double the time as standard polyester golf shirts.
Galvin Green sponsor a team of professional golfers, such as heavyweights Colin Montgomerie, Graeme Storm and Peter Hanson. They also sponsor Lucas Bjerregaard, a European Tour player from Denmark. Lucas is a young player whose stock is on the rise. He placed third behind Martin Kaymer at the Italian Open 2015 in September, his highest European Tour finish in his career. His choice of gear for the event was a Marvin Ventil8 shirt in gunmetal/white/grape and white Nate Ventil8 trousers. They also sponsor Nacho Elvira, a promising Spaniard who secured his card on the European Tour in late August 2015 after establishing himself on the Challenge Tour. Other notable pros include Englishman John Parry, Australian Marcus Fraser and Swede Klas Eriksson.
