FootJoy, “The #1 Shoe and Glove in Golf”, have been sculpting their sensational shoes since 1857. As a subsidiary/brand of Acushnet, they are currently the number one seller of golf shoes and gloves in the USA. However, FootJoy is not the name by which they have always been known.
Their roots lie in Brockton, Massachusetts, where they originally ran under the Burt and Packard Shoe Company. Changing names over the years, they settled finally on FootJoy after a line of golf shoes released under that name was endorsed by Walter Hagen for the 1927 Ryder Cup USA Team.
Going through various management changes, the name stuck and the brand began to grow. In 1979 they branched out to the golf glove trade, releasing the Sta-Sof® glove which is still successful and widely used today.
FootJoy was bought by Acushnet in 1985 and are the current owners. Their first move was to produce the DryJoys® which are to-date leading products in waterproof golf shoe technology. From there on in they continued to innovate and drive the market, selling millions of products worldwide. They have now even transitioned into the apparel sector, creating fashionable and practical clothing lines.
