The 6 Best Moments From the PGA Tour 2015
Jason Day claimed his rightful crown last month at Whistling Straits, with the last major of the year signifying the end of the PGA Tour and the beginning of the FedExCup playoffs. He continued his winning streak at the first FedExCup playoff in The Barclays and we saw young Rickie Fowler claim victory at the Deutsche Bank Championship earlier this week. With 43 events staged over 39 weeks to choose from, we look back at the best moments from the 2014-15 PGA championship:
1. Jason Day's US PGA Championship win
One of our favourite moments has to be Jason Day’s monumental win at this year’s PGA championship, making him the first Australian to win a Major and the current leader of the FedExCup, a remarkable season for the 27 year old.
2. Matt Jones’ recovery shot
Another Australian, Matt Jones, had a hell of a time at Whistling Straits and hit this almost comical recovery shot from the hospitality tent on the 9th … phenomenal.
3. Brian Harman’s pocket aces
Currently sitting in 50th place in the FedExCup rankings, but not to be forgotten, Brian Harman carded two hole-in-ones in the Final round of The Barclays 2015, making him the third player in history to make two hole-in-ones in a single round. After his pair of aces he paid for a $3000 round at the clubhouse. He recently placed 12th in the Deutsche Bank Championship and will go on to the third round play offs of the FedExCup. Good luck Brian, like you need it!
4. Shane Lowry’s approach play
Shane Lowry’s creative shots at the Bridgestone Invitational saw him sail to the win with some inspirational play from the rough in the final round, marking his first win on the PGA tour.
5. Double trouble from Dustin and J.B.
There were two hole-in-ones at the WGC Cadillac Championships back in May, by two different players, but both on the 4th. Both Dustin Johnson and J.B. Holmes struck 207 yard aces just 24 minutes apart in the third round.
6. Rickie wins the Players
Rickie Fowler is a man on fire at the moment with his recent Deutsche Bank win, but the shots he played for the victory on the 17th in The Players Championship back in May was something special.
The PGA Tour may be finished, but don’t worry golf fans there are still two events left in the FedExCup with the BMW Championship starting 17th September and the Coca Cola Tour Championship on the 24th. And if those weren’t enough, there’s The Presidents Cup on the 8th October. What were your favourite moments from this year’s PGA Tour? Let us know on Twitter @GolfSupport.
