10 Reasons Golfers Make Great Friends

They say friends are family you can choose, and we say you should definitely be choosing a golfer or two! Here’s why…

Golfers are good at small talk

Ever out with a friend and bump into an ex or disliked co-worker? Well you better hope that friend is a golfer, as we’re used to awkward conversations with new people we’re randomly paired with playing a round of golf. We can talk for England – so you won’t have to!

Golfers can banter

Whilst you may save your banter for Friday nights and stag do’s, us golfers indulge on the daily over 18 holes! Our banter game is strong, so if you’re on a night out with us expect to be thoroughly entertained!

Golfers don’t take themselves too seriously

Taking the mick out of each other is all part of the fun of a golf game. Whether someone takes a terrible swing, completely misses the ball or falls in the drink – there’s always a good laugh to be had and we sure know how to laugh at ourselves! Just another of our qualities that make us great mates to have.

Golfers have great dress sense

We may get stick from those that don’t play, but we know deep down they’re just jealous of our colourful polo shirts, suave slacks and leather soled shoes. And if you’re our friend, we won’t mind sharing…

Golfers are full of interesting stories

There’s a lot of stop start and walking from hole to hole on a golf course, meaning we’re used to having lots of time to chat. We get to hear interesting stories and facts from different people each time we play a round, and we store them up to tell you!

Golfers will do all the maths so you don’t have to…

Splitting the bill? Working out the cab fare? Game after game of adding up points and medal scores has made us mental arithmetic wizzes. So you just sit back, relax and let the experts work out the maths whilst you get yourself another drink.

Golfers are popular at the club

We all know getting into that newly refurbished club on a Saturday night is no mean feat, but if you’ve got a golfer with you it’s bound to be a whole lot easier. Aside from the fact we’re great people in general, club bouncers and security love us for our sharp dress sense; chinos and leather soled shoes are perfect nightclub attire if you want to ensure you don’t get turned away at the door!

Golfers are optimists

If a game isn’t going our way, we’re well versed in staying positive – after all, it’s not over until the last whole is played! We have learnt to apply this optimism to all real life situations too, so will be able to cheer you up and make you feel positive whenever needed. Furthermore, a golf game relies on the weather – and we’ll get out there whatever is predicted; we believe in the power of optimism to hold off a thunder storm!

Golfers are always on time

You won’t be left waiting at the bar or restaurant for your friend if he’s a golfer – we’re never late! Having had to be aware of penalties for being late and missing your tee time, we are well practiced in getting to places with lots of time to spare.

Golfers always have spare change

You may laugh at us for constantly being smartly dressed (we don’t own even one pair of scruffy jeans FYI) but you’re always grateful when you need change for parking or a cold beer on a hot day; those chinos of ours have deep pockets and you can bet your bottom dollar that you’ll find a coin or two inside them. After all, we need to make sure we’re well equipped to buy a round after a round or settle our game time bets…

So there you have it, ten reasons why you should befriend a golfer today – you’ll find us on the golf course when you’re ready!
