Each and every iron is 5 times forged from 8620 soft carbon steel, a tight grain is then achieved for strength and to significantly prolong the lifespan of the grooves. The appearance and feel is also very noticeable. The irons come in a choice of two finishes, a lovely premium chrome or a new xtreme dark option. This diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating creates a hard, graphite-like carbon based coating that significantly extends the lifespan of the club. DLC is a premium three-layer process which includes a chromium base, carbon-chrome midlayer and high carbon top layer. Precision weighting technology means that the one heavyweight located in the rear of the clubhead allows golfers to fully experiment with numerous head configurations during a personal fitting. XCOR2 technology is many years in the making, resulting in extreme face deflection and monumental ball speeds. Gen5 irons undergo a precise robotic polishing process, this creates an extremely tight manufacturing process that gives consistent sole and face perimeter geometry. Robotic laser welding reduced the heat affected zone and gives a high strength and exacting attachment method.
Just behind the face is a U-shaped corridor that is built into the internal surface of the face. This power channel technology increases deflection and bend in the top section of the face.
