TaylorMade M1 Driver

TaylorMade M1 Driver

It is that time of year again, the golf season is winding down and we all need something to get excited about before heading into the winter. Taylormade have always been outstanding at creating  this feeling and then backing it up with incredible performance...The Taylormade M1 Driver looks set to raise the bar yet again.

“Performance for every swing”

This is a line that you are going to hear a lot with the launch of the M1 driver and with the amount of technology on display it is well justified.

Let’s start at the beginning....

TaylorMade M1 driver

M stands for Multi Material. This refers to the ultra thin, ultra light, ultra strong composite crown, looking at the crown it looks like carbon fibre and is very pleasing on the eye.  In using this composite Taylormade have been able to manipulate the weight configuration in a way that we have never seen before, but we will come to that later.  The composite crown combined with a weight loaded sole have delivered a low overall head weight which in turn gets the centre of gravity lower which will lead to more efficient power transfer resulting in huge ball speed.

This driver is designed to give the broadest spectrum of golfers a club that performs for them, in line with this philosophy Taylormade have introduced a brand new sole plate, known now as the T – Track system (when you see the sole the name will make sense) this system features 25grams of moveable weight which, when it comes to the nitty gritty, could be very advantageous.

The Front track features one 15Gram weight; this will be familiar from SLDR and R15 letting you choose draw, fade or neutral flights.

The back track has one 10Gram weight; this is the exciting one that can change the spin model from high to low depending on where it is positioned.

The fitting options on this club are frankly astounding.  The M1 features a full 3 step head adjustment;

  • Loft sleeve – A 4deg (+/- 2deg) sleeve to optimise face angle, loft and lie
  • Front track – fine tuning your shot shape
  • Back track – dial in your spin model

The driver is available in 8.5/9.5/10.5/12(460 only) degree heads and in a 460CC or 430CC head size.

As usual, we also have some fantastic stock shafts;

  • High launch : Fujikura Pro 60
  • Mid launch : KuroKage TiNi Silver 60
  • Low Launch : Aldila Rogue Silver 70

All clubs are fitted with the Lamkin 360 grip as standard, there will full custom options available.

The new M1 driver is forging a path for everyone to follow; it truly is tour fitting without the truck.

The M1 range launches on October 8th and will be available for custom fit from the end of September.
