Scotty Cameron Futura X7 Putters
Scotty Cameron Futura X7 Putters
Everyone who plays golf knows there are a few major players in the putting market. Very few, if any, rival Scotty Cameron. He has been making putters in California under the Titleist banner for the best part of 21 years now and his standards have never dropped. If anything, the innovation and build quality has improved. Scotty has built on the solid foundations that the X5 range laid down last season to release the new X7, X7M and X7M Dual Balance. This is what you can expect from the new range.
X7
The head shape and design of the X7 will initially look very similar to its predecessor, the X5. However, there are some sizeable differences in the technology used by Scotty Cameron in the build of this putter. The X7 is around 10% bigger than the X5 which has given Scotty the ability to increase the MOI in the head making it more stable than its older brother. The head is made from a combination of metals. 6061 Aluminium make up the face and the sole of the putter with heavier and more robust 303 stainless steel forming the perimeter of the head. Combine this with a vibration dampening material between the two and you get a head which Scotty Cameron says has a “larger sweet spot and a soft, sure feel”
For all you technical minded people out there; here are the exact specifications on the X7.
Loft : 3.5deg
Lie : 70deg
Length : 33”, 34”, 35”
Head Material : 303 Stainless Steel/6061 Aluminium Sole
Offset : Full Shaft
This putter will also be available in right hand custom options so that you can select your perfect loft, lie, grip and head weight.
X7M
Keeping with the history of the name Futura; the X7M is giving golfers the chance to play a putter that is even more stable and forgiving than the standard X7. The big story with the X7M are the alignment tools. A completely new “pop-through rail alignment system” has received rave reviews on tour and we are sure that you will find it equally impressive. Constructed with the same materials as the X7 the mighty M has one more trick up its sleeve, a “bar back wrap-around”. This is made from the same 303 stainless steel that the perimeter of the head is constructed of. The benefit of this bar-back is quite impressive; it moves the weight away from the centre of gravity which boosts the MOI even further than the X7, as we all know, an increased MOI provides less twisting at impact and a larger sweet spot. The X7M is a little bit special.
X7M Dual Balance
Our final member of the Futura X7 family is the X7M Dual Balance. With the belly putter ban coming into play in 2016 it is now more important than ever that putter makers find suitable alternatives for those who liked using the anchored stroke in years gone by.
The X7MDB does this fantastically well. The head is the same design at the standard X7M made of the same materials and it performs in the same way. The big difference in the dual balance model is the counterbalance in the grip. Scotty Cameron has added 50grams of stainless steel into the butt end of the club making the stroke incredibly stable and easy to repeat consistently.
The X7 Dual Balance will be available in 38” as standard but with the opportunity to purchase 36”-40” through the custom build process.
You can get your hands on one of these putters from October 23rd and if the performance of the X5 was anything to go buy you best be quick if you want to get your hands on truly cutting edge design.
