GOLFSUPPORT'S #STAYPUTTCHALLENGE

Many people are unaware that prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with over 400,000 men living with prostate cancer in the UK today. The current Covid-19 situation will have implications for everyone, and men with prostate cancer will undoubtedly be affected.

As a result, to raise awareness, Prostate Cancer UK (the leading men’s health charity) has been working on a number of creative ways to give its supporters a little bit of light entertainment during lockdown and raise some vital funds in the process.

What is the #StayPuttChallenge?

Launched over the Easter weekend, the #StayPuttChallenge involves golfers of all abilities showcasing their best golf putts, as easy or difficult as desired, and donating £5 to Prostate Cancer UK by texting GOLF to 70004.

Golfsupport have partnered up with Prostate Cancer UK for this challenge, giving away an Odyssey putter for the best #StayPuttChallenge - as judged by former Masters champion, Danny Willett.

The former Masters champion said:

“Prostate Cancer UK have done a fantastic job in raising awareness of the disease within the golf community. The disease sadly exists in every golf club, and there’s still a lot more work to be done.

“One in eight men in the UK will be affected by the disease – that means that one in eight families will have their lives changed by prostate cancer. It’s important for men to know their risk of the disease and to support the charity in its fight against prostate cancer.”

Everyone's been getting involved, from Danny Willett himself, to former European Tour professional Andrew Murray - even Golfsupport! (See our entry below).

But the challenge also lends itself to non-golfers too, as early entries have shown that equipment is not essential. Some people have used skateboards, fruit, ping pong balls and even baseball mitts. All you need is a bit of creativity! View them all over on the hashtag on Twitter!
