Golfsupport's “The Big Golf Race” for Prostate Cancer UK

Golfsupport's “The Big Golf Race” for Prostate Cancer UK

The GolfSupport Team

Did you know that prostate cancer is now the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK? In fact, one man dies of the disease every 45 minutes in the UK - the time it takes to play three holes of golf. To keep more men playing the game for longer, Golfsupport have teamed up with Prostate Cancer UK to fundraise for the worthy cause following the passing of our Managing Director’s father, Bernard Lines, after a four-month battle with the disease.

Earlier this year, Golfsupport teamed up with Prostate Cancer UK to launch the #StayPuttChallenge, and gave away a Odyssey putter to the worthy winner! But our fundraising efforts aren’t stopping there…

On Sunday, September 6th, Golfsupport’s very own John Lines, Jamie Boler, Sam Sanghera and Richard Candlin participated in Prostate Cancer UK's new challenge, "The Big Golf Race"!

Between them, they raised an amazing £3,916.67 for Prostate Cancer UK - plus £658 in Gift Aid!

What is "The Big Golf Race"?

“The Big Golf Race” is a new fundraising challenge for golfers of all ages and abilities, in order to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK and fund life-saving research and treatment.

You can participate in this challenge by either playing:
  • A marathon (4 rounds in one day - 72 holes)
  • A half marathon (2 rounds in one day - 36 holes)
  • A sprint (1 round - 18 holes - as quick as you can)

#TeamGolfsupport took part in the 72-hole 'marathon', playing 2 rounds of golf at Sherwood Forest Golf Club and another 2 rounds at Hollinwell Golf Club

Here’s PGA Professional, James Robinson, showing how the 72-hole marathon is done - with a few guest appearances from the Golfsupport team!
