The Nike Golf Collection Starts a Style Revolution
Golf apparel is entering a new era, the sport has always lacked a certain sense of panache, with style choices like stuffy Scottish check patterns, loose fitting clothing and just a general disregard for fashion. But, in 2016, golf clothing is making a statement. And Nike Golf are leading the way.
Nike Golf released their Spring/Summer collection early last month and it certainly did not fail to impress. Nike Golf seem to have taken inspiration from their stylists in design and created some striking looks for the course that will make sure you aren’t out of place around town or in the gym either.
A round-up of the best apparel for 2016 so far
Nike Hyperwarm tights
These leggings might be a more common sight on the athletics track, but Nike’s golf tights are a serious addition to any golfer’s arsenal. Trust us, you won’t be getting cold in these ultra-heat retaining, super-comfy polyester/spandex mesh. Throw over a pair of shorts on these hybrid high-fashion tights to complete the look. They may even improve your swing with the added flexibility.
Fly-knit Chukka golf shoes
Nike have introduced another bold contender in their stylish 2016 range. The Fly-knit Chukka golf shoes take inspiration from their highly successful fly-knit running shoe ranges and are an extension of an identical range of contemporary coloured trainers. These golf shoes are a tasty addition to Nike Golf’s selection, and many players will welcome these trainers turned golf shoes for their lightweight material and flexible insole. The shoes feature traction pads on the sole for non-slip control. We tip these to be a huge hit for summer and will sell out fast!
Nike Golf 2016 Polo designs
Nike have done plenty of polo designs in the past, hell everyone has and a polo shirt is just a polo right? Wrong! Their new designs turn its back on a century old style, with distinct collar styles of; blade, roll and classic. The fit options have changed, with standard for a comfortable fit and modern slim which sits like a tailored suit and is flexible.
The new design Rory (pictured above) is wearing is the blade collar. The design features a lightweight, stretchy Dri-Fit fabric allowing full mobility with six colour combinations available. The other designs include the MM Fly Framing Commander, MM Fly Framing Block, MM Fly Shawl and MM Fly Swing. Check out our Nike golf t-shirts to add to your golf essentials collection!
Nike have also released a number of figure-hugging lines to accompany the tights and their step towards athletic performance clothing. Their Dri-Fit range includes a smart Jersey Turtle Neck, slim-fit chinos and 1/2 zip tops, to name a few.
Nike Method Orgin Putters
Another Nike revelation that has been big news recently is the unveiling of a fixed release date for the new Nike Method Origin Putters.
The double Championship winning putters will be available from April 16th and for pre-order two weeks beforehand. The blade-headed model comes in two variations, the B2-01 and the B1-01. The newly engineered club face has double the number of grooves than the previous Method, meaning a better roll off the face. Rory praised the putter saying “When I first tested it in Dubai in January 2015, I realized the long putts kept rolling just a little bit more. It just kept rolling and rolling, which was awesome. I kept asking, 'When can I get this in the bag?' I added it in September 2015 and it has been in the bag ever since.” And we share Rory's excitement, the new three-piece design features the RZN composite used across many new Nike ball and club products.
David Franklin, Nike Golf's Master Modelmaker, worked alongside Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy to produce a putter that 'minimised distractions', and they produced a tournament-winning putter that is sure to shake things up this season. With not just Rory keeping it in his bag as Charl Schwartzel Russell Henley, Scott Pinckney, Ryan Ruffels and Nick Watney all including one of the two models in their set-up.
The much-anticipated Odyssey Toe Up putters will be released a day before the Nike Origins on the 15th April. Both products are highly anticipated, but which one will you choose?
