There is no need to connect to a computer as there is Wifi connectivity so that updates and course downloads can be done quickly and efficiently. The device comes preloaded with over 35,000 golf courses and according to Skycaddie, only they walk the courses and take thousands of reference point measurements so that all of the yardages are pinpoint accurate. There are yardages to front/middle/back of the green, to all hazards and to any point on the hole by using the moveable cursor on the device. This gives the golfer all the information they need to choose the right club for the shot. The device features an auto course selection so you can just turn up and play. It features an auto hole advance function and by 'pinching' or double-tapping the screen, crucial distances to hazards, carries and layups are shown.
With Skycaddie's patented Intelligreen technology, the device shows the exact shape of the green from your playing position. This includes the distance of any bunker carries, false fronts, mounds or different levels/tiers on the green. This comprehensive information helps the golfer choose the type of shot and club to play.
The weather is not a problem for the SX500. The device is highly water-resistant and with its rugged design, it continues to give extremely accurate information in the worst of weather conditions. For those golfers who like to analyse their round, the SX500 offers digital scoring on the device together with stat tracking and more for a complete overall picture.
