Ping is an iconic brand that requires little to no introduction when it comes to quality and workmanship, highly regarded and loved by golfers the world over. Ping drivers, fairway woods and hybrids have always been confidence-inspiring to look at and play, Ping has a knack of making the heads look bigger than they actually are and with shallow faces that are incredibly easy to pick the ball from the surface, even on really tight lies.
The SFT (straight flight technology) is designed with heel-biased weighting, to help bring shots back on-line and into the fairway. A higher moment of inertia is achieved with the use of high-density tungsten weighting. Strategically positioned back for forgiveness and closer to the heel of the 17-4 steel body to promote a right-to-left shot bend. The hosel on the fairway has five loft and lie adjustments to fine-tune the trajectory, +-1.5⁰ (0, +1⁰, +1.5⁰, -1⁰, -1.5⁰ loft adjustments, and up to 3⁰ flatter. Providing the player with fantastic individual adjustability.
Ping has continued to improve and expand the G range with their latest G425 fairway woods that benefit from a FaceWrap design which provides a thin, high strength maraging face wrap into both the sole and the crown of the club. This allows the face to importantly flex more to produce excellent ball speeds, even on off-centre strikes.
The innovations continue with the introduction of Spinsistency technology, the face of the fairway woods are constructed with face curvature that modifies the roll profile, especially low on the face of the club. When shots are struck low on the face, they will tend to launch low and rise due to a high spin rate. The Spinsistency design essentially lowers the loft on the bottom part of the face so shots that are struck there will leave the club with lower spin and increased ball speed. Low strikes are the most common of all mishits with a fairway wood or a hybrid so this technology will make a huge difference to all levels of golfer, bad strikes are somewhat rewarded and not all is lost.
A new, strategically positioned sole weight serves to increase the MOI (moment of inertia) of the Ping G425 fairway woods, making it the most forgiving fairway wood they have ever produced. A three-dot alignment system has also been added to the crown, to aid with alignment visuals. As with all the G425 range, the fairway woods look superb, and Ping fairways look majestic with the new stealthy all-black colour scheme.
